The Financial Guru's make Millions teaching people to live in scarcity. Yep, I'm talking about people like Suze Orman and Dave Ramsey. They've been telling you this:

Get used to living below your means.
Have a plan to work into your 70's.
Stop going to Starbucks because that money you spent on a latte could compound to a million bucks over 40 years.
Pay off your mortgage & cut up your credit cards.
Scrimp and save until you turn 67 and hope you don't outlive your nest egg.
Save all you can and don't spend, be frugal.

They teach people to work their entire life to build up a big ole pile of cash (net worth), then at retirement start taking money out of it and hopefully there will be enough. It's a scarcity mindset that cause people to live in fear of running out, playing defense instead of offense. Saving money isn't a bad thing, its just doesn't create true wealth (freedom to do what you want, when you want).

I'll be 64 years old when my youngest graduates high school. Some would say I got a late start but I say I'm just getting started. When I was a kid, there were TV shows where people would be living in retirement homes in their 50's (WTF? I'm 49!).

Last week I went to see an 80's concert and enjoyed watching Howard Jones, Stacy Q and Wang Chung rock it in their 60's. I'm also seeing Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and Arnold Schwarznegger still kicking ass in the movies, just like they were decades ago.

We've never had a better time in our history for those of us who want to, can create money doing what we love in life. The key to this is understanding the Creator Economy. 

But not much more than 100 years ago during the industrial revolution, for someone to get by, they had to literally become paid slaves to corporations if they couldn't make it as a farmer. People worked 14 hour days in harsh and inhumane conditions, including children. 

Reform set in, conditions improved and the educational system was put into place to remove children from the workforce, yet train them to become future employees. Today I want to drop a nugget about creating content on social platforms, because traffic is what fuels your one person business and the most important thing that a person can cultivate in the creator economy. 

Probably the number 1 question I get asked all the time is ‘should I post personal stuff on (LinkedIn/Social Media)’?

The reason I loved this movie so much is there are so many parallels with life.

In the movie, 'the real world' is a simulation perpetrated by AI to keep us distracted and under control.

Not so different from our 'real world' where the media, politics, advertising, social media hacking our dopamine systems to keep us distracted and chasing an ideal reality that never seems to come.

In the movie, the Matrix (the simulation) is a computer program that has rules and boundaries called 'constructs' that keep people prisoner.

In our lives, we have outdated belief systems that we have bought into and work within that also keep us prisoner.

In the movie, during the training scenes, Neo gets distracted by the girl in the Red Dress, a perfect example of how easily we get distracted in life, especially as entrepreneurs. I call this 'Shiny Object Syndrome' and it comes in the way of success because it diffuses your focus and energy.

Threads, the new app by Meta has lost 88% of its traffic in less than one month.

I'm going to break down what happened and 3 questions you should ask whether you are a one person business or a gigantic company like Meta so you don't make the same mistakes..

Meta did an exceptional job launching the Threads app, with over 100 Million sign ups in just a few weeks (1/4 of the total users of Twitter).

FOMO and curiosity was strong, plus the easy barrier for IG users to instantaneously set up.

Threads easily crushed every social platform with getting people in the door, but then lost momentum almost as fast as it came. So what happened?

There's been a big problem brewing, decades in the making.

I chose not to go to college because I hated school and couldn't imagine working to pay off loans to do something I hated.

I got my education (partially) from the many wealthy & innovative entrepreneurs that were members here.

I noticed something strange though: many of the bartenders and servers that I managed were college grads that were struggling to find a job in the field they had chosen and bartending or serving to pay off their loans.

Some of them were about to go to college and it felt like they were randomly picking a degree to go into.

I believe at one time it made sense to be intentional about what you want to do and go to college to get a degree in that field, then spend your life in that career.

Part of the problem is that at a young age, its so hard to tell WHAT you want...

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I am obsessed with the concept of ‘bending time’; the ability to 10x the amount of what we can do.

It’s been 3 years since I’ve been able to run a business, create content on multiple platforms, run a full book in sales, be a father to 3 kids, sleep 8 hours per night, put out 140+ episodes of my podcast, create 200+ videos and work out/meditate 6 days per week.

I won’t go into it here, but I believe that time is highly malleable because of 1) how we manage time (what most people focus on), 2) our beliefs and how we ‘feel’ about our time (time anxiety) and 3) how we manage our ‘energy’ around time.
